대략적인 공연예산: How to fix car ignition (https://olderworkers.com.au/author/enwgh21sick6-jenniferlawrence-uk) Problems

A car won't start unless the ignition switch is sending an electrical signal to the starter motor. Normal wear and tear over time may result in the switch not functioning properly.

You can remove the trim on your steering column using specialized tools to gain access to the ignition cylinder module. Check out your repair manual to learn how to do it correctly.

1. Make sure you check the Switch

One of the most frequently encountered ignition issues is a defective switch. It acts as bridge between two contacts, controlling the time when relays are activated and deactivated. Because it isn't able to harness the full power of devices such as the starter, it's a less powerful component that's less likely fail. However, it's still possible for the switch to be damaged or damaged or corroded.

A malfunctioning switch is recognized by a slow time turning the key. This can be caused by a variety of things, including incorrectly inserting the key or deteriorating the mechanism over time. It's not unusual to see people mix their keys up with someone else's. This can result in mechanical damage.

Before contacting a locksmith, you can try a few things. First, make sure the battery is fully charged and there aren't any other electrical issues within the system. Also, you should check the voltage of each component to determine if they're capable of supplying enough power. Once you've done these steps, it's now time to begin troubleshooting.

Fortunately, the ignition switch is pretty simple to replace. It is connected to the ignition module, which is a round component that holds everything together. You'll need to use a flathead and something long enough to insert the pin. You can make use of anything from a paintbrush, to a Kabob stick, but you should avoid anything brittle as it could be broken into the hole.

If you're ready for the work, you'll need to remove any trim pieces covering the area around the ignition switch. After removing the trim pieces, take off any screws that hold the switch in position. Then, carefully remove it. Depending on the model, you might need to disconnect any cables that connect to it. You can learn how to do it in the manual of your vehicle.

If the ignition switch isn't working it is recommended to have it replaced by an expert. Replacing it can involve disabling the steering column which may trigger unintentional airbag deployment if it's done incorrectly. Therefore, it's often best to have your locksmith take care of this for you.

2. Check the Wiring

If you can't turn the key in the ignition or your car won't start, the issue could be due to any of the components in your car's ignition system. Understanding how the ignition system functions will help you identify problems and make the appropriate repairs.

The ignition switch is a low voltage multi-pole electrical switch which is operated by a key. It includes four positions "off", "accessory", "run" and the "lock". When the switch is locked (which is typically marked by an red light), the ignition circuit is activated and it is impossible to start your vehicle.

To determine whether the ignition switch damaged or if the ignition coil itself is defective, you will need to do a quick electrical test using a voltmeter. The voltmeter should be reading around 12.6 volts when the ignition switch is in the run position. If the voltage falls below that level, it's a sign there's an open circuit in the system. It could be the solenoid, the battery, or the ignition coil.

Connect the electrical connector to ensure that it does not interfere with the test. Then set the voltmeter to the continuity or resistance mode and place one lead on one of the terminals on the ignition switch. The other lead should be connected to the positive terminal of the battery. If the voltmeter reads "open" or fails to show any voltage, it is recommended to replace the switch.

When you're replacing the switch, be sure to use a new ignition cylinder and a good quality key cut to ensure that your car will run and start correctly. When you replace the switch, ensure not to hit the pins of the ignition cylinder with your tools. Otherwise, they'll get stuck and your engine will not run. You'll have to take off the steering wheel and gear selector in certain vehicles to access the ignition cylinder. This isn't easy and shouldn't be done unless you have an owner's manual that states it's safe to do so. Otherwise, serious damage to the steering column and shifting mechanism is likely.

3. Check the Cylinder

If you've gone through the wiring, battery, and ignition switch, but can't get your car to start, it could be time to look at the cylinder. The cylinder is the component which holds the key and is mechanically attached to the steering lock to ensure that thieves can't drive the car without it.

You might notice that your key will not turn if the cylinder has worn out. Sometimes, the pins within the cylinder are stuck when they adjust to the shape of the key, which can cause your car ignition locked not to start. The cylinder might also be loose. Tapping it with a small tackhammer will aid. Just be careful not to crush the springs inside and ensure that the key is correctly placed before tapping.

Another indication that your cylinder is going bad is when you need to move the key around and test it in various positions before it starts. This is a negative sign and must be addressed immediately, since it will only worsen over time.

To test the cylinder, you'll have to disconnect your battery and remove the cover around your steering wheel until you are able to access the ignition module. You'll then be able to remove the old ignition switch as well as the metal ignition cylinder. If you don't own an extra switch, you might be able take the original ignition cylinder and switch to a locksmith for reuse as long they're in good shape. After replacing the ignition switch and cylinder make sure to reconnect the wiring to secure it, then reattach all covers and panels that you took off.

4. Check the Spark Plugs

The spark plug is the last link in your ignition chain. When it breaks it will stop the engine from running. It can be that your car won't start at all or will run poorly. In either case, it's likely that one or more things are hindering or preventing the flow of electricity across spark plug gaps, which in turn ignites the fuel mixture and air within your engine.

Before you begin working on your spark plugs, be sure that you work on a safe surface and using gloves and tools that are protected to avoid being struck. Spark plugs are hot and could cause serious injuries when touched with bare skin.

There may be a slight gray or brown fleck on the edge of the electrode when the spark plug is damaged. It could also have a black coating on the opposite side of the electrode. These deposits or fouling can stop high-voltage electrical current from crossing the gap between your spark plug and igniting an engine.

If you think that your spark plugs may be at fault you can test them by taking the plugs from their tube in the ignition coil. You can do this by disconnecting the coil from the plug wire and following the proper procedure for your car to remove any components that are covering the spark plugs. After you have removed the plugs you can place them on a metal surface that is grounded and crank the engine. If they are working you should be able to see a strong blue spark near the point of the central electrode.

If you don't detect a spark, you've identified the problem. Next, you'll need to go backwards through the chain of ignition and test each component until the spark plugs are no longer working. It's important to remember that all systems wear out and break over time and this is particularly true of ignition systems. Regular maintenance can slow down the process and prevent major problems at the worst possible time.jaguar-logo.png
